A private family based in Holland Park is seeking an experienced and proactive House Manager / Executive Housekeeper to support the smooth running of their substantial London residence.
This is a varied, hands on position combining household coordination, team support, administration and practical housekeeping. Working closely with the existing Head Housekeeper and Head Gardener, you will help oversee the wider household operation, ensuring everything runs efficiently and that the property is consistently maintained to an exceptional standard.
The residence is substantial, and there are frequent guests and visitors throughout the year. The family also travels regularly, so the successful candidate will need to be organised, adaptable and confident anticipating the needs of a busy private household.
The Role
Household Management & Coordination
• Support the running of the residence, maintaining a good overview of household requirements.
• Work closely with the Head Housekeeper and Head Gardener to coordinate activities across the house and grounds.
• Act as a key point of communication between the household team, Family Office, Personal Assistants and Property Manager.
• Maintain household stock levels, including cleaning products, kitchen provisions, stationery and guest amenities.
• Oversee household logistics, including deliveries, newspapers, incoming post and general organisation.
• Maintain household systems, procedures and records, identifying areas where improvements can be made.
• Coordinate preparations for guest stays, entertaining and special occasions.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and external contacts as required.
• Maintain communication with the family's other UK properties when necessary.
Housekeeping & Practical Support
• Maintain oversight of housekeeping standards throughout the residence and guest accommodation.
• Step in to assist with cleaning, laundry, ironing, room preparation and other housekeeping duties when required, including during staff absence or annual leave.
• Assist with deep cleaning, seasonal housekeeping projects and the preparation of guest accommodation.
• Provide occasional assistance with service and entertaining.
• Help ensure the household team has the supplies, information and support needed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
Guest & Family Support
• Help prepare the residence for visiting family members and guests, ensuring everything is presented to the highest standard.
• Provide a warm and professional welcome to visitors.
• Assist with general household requests and ensure that requirements are followed through.
• Be comfortable around the family's two very well-behaved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and assist with occasional dog-sitting, including evenings.
The Household
The family has an established household team, including two Housekeepers and a Head Gardener, alongside wider support from the Family Office and Personal Assistants.
This is a newly created position, intended to provide greater oversight and coordination across the household. The successful candidate will be approachable and collaborative, bringing a good level of organisation and leadership without disrupting an established team or taking an unnecessarily heavy-handed approach.
The Ideal Candidate
The family is looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in private household management, executive housekeeping or a similar senior household coordination role.
• Highly organised, proactive and comfortable overseeing the many moving parts of a substantial residence.
• A confident communicator with excellent spoken English.
• Naturally practical and happy to support housekeeping operations when needed.
• Approachable and diplomatic, with the ability to work collaboratively alongside an established team.
• Discreet, professional and well presented, with excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable managing guest preparations, entertaining and changing household priorities.
• Flexible and willing to assist with occasional evenings, weekends and dog-sitting.
