Current role

Rota nanny in Athens

2 weeks on/2 weeks off caring for four children aged 2–11, with a baby due in January 2027, working within a fully staffed household and alongside another rota nanny.

Role overview

A warm and welcoming family based in Athens is seeking an experienced, professional Rota Nanny to join their fully staffed household on a long-term basis.

The role involves caring for five children: girls aged 11.5, 10 and 2, a 6-year-old boy, and a baby due in January 2027. A dedicated maternity nurse will be employed for the baby during the first 6–12 months, allowing the successful nanny to focus primarily on the older children while naturally becoming involved with the baby over time.

This is a shared-care position with hands-on parents who are actively involved in their children's lives. They are looking for a nanny who will become a trusted member of the family and provide consistency, structure and exceptional care.

This position would suit an experienced rota nanny who genuinely enjoys working within a busy household and thrives in a fast-paced, organised environment.

The successful candidate will naturally take ownership of the children's day-to-day lives, confidently planning ahead, anticipating needs and ensuring everything runs smoothly without requiring constant direction. They will be proactive, highly organised and capable of making sensible decisions independently, escalating only those matters that genuinely require parental involvement.

The family value a nanny who is warm, engaging and energetic, while remaining calm, professional and discreet. A positive attitude, strong common sense and a genuine willingness to work collaboratively with both the parents and wider household team are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Providing exceptional day-to-day care for the children during your rota. • Supporting each child's emotional, social and educational development through engaging, age-appropriate activities. • Planning outings, creative activities and educational experiences tailored to each child's individual interests and developmental stage. • Managing daily routines, school schedules and extracurricular activities. • Taking responsibility for children's wardrobes, packing, organisation and travel preparation. • Maintaining tidy, organised children's bedrooms, playrooms and belongings. • Managing children's laundry. • Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the children when required. • Working closely alongside the parents, the other rota nanny and household staff to ensure seamless continuity of care. • Travelling internationally with the family throughout the year.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS • Previous experience working as a Rota Nanny within a fully staffed private household. • Extensive experience caring for multiple children across a broad range of ages. • A strong understanding of child development and the ability to create engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage learning and independence. • Excellent organisational skills, including managing routines, wardrobes, packing and travel logistics. • Exceptional time management with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise independently. • A highly self-motivated approach, using initiative and anticipating what needs doing without requiring day-to-day supervision. • Confidence solving day-to-day challenges independently, exercising sound judgement and common sense. • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with parents, another rota nanny and household staff. • A warm, proactive, flexible personality with a practical, hands-on attitude. • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis. • A confident driver (preferred).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION • Accommodation is provided during working weeks with a private bedroom and bathroom. • The family regularly travel to the UK, the United States and other international destinations. • The family have one friendly dog in Athens.

This is a wonderful long-term opportunity for an experienced rota nanny seeking a stable position with a kind family who value professionalism, teamwork and exceptional childcare.
