Role overview
A lovely family based in Bromley is looking for an experienced and dependable Live-in Housekeeper to join their household on an immediate temporary basis.
This is a hands-on household position combining housekeeping, laundry, family cooking and driving. The family also has an elderly father living at the property who is largely independent but benefits from having someone around in the evenings.
The role
The Housekeeper will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the home, including:
- General housekeeping and maintaining the home to a high standard
- Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
- Keeping bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas organised and well presented
- Working alongside a cleaner who attends twice per week
- Preparing fresh, healthy, home-cooked family meals
- Cooking an earlier evening meal for the family's son, which can then be reheated for the employer later
- Preparing balanced meals with vegetables and/or salads; the family prefers fresh cooking rather than ready-made meals
- Managing household supplies and carrying out occasional top-up shopping alongside the family's regular Ocado delivery
- Driving locally when required, including occasional drop-offs and collections for the father in Bromley High Street
- Providing a reassuring presence for the father in the evenings and, where needed, helping him safely manage the stairs before bed
This is not a carer position. The father, aged 84, is independent; the family simply values having someone in the house who can keep an eye on him and offer light assistance where necessary.
Hours & flexibility
The usual working pattern will primarily be Monday to Friday.
The family does, however, require someone who can offer occasional weekend flexibility, potentially around once or twice per month depending on the family's schedule. Weekend work will not be required every week, but applicants must be genuinely comfortable with providing weekend cover when needed.
Accommodation
Excellent private accommodation is provided within the family home, comprising a double bedroom with wardrobes and a newly renovated private bathroom.
The accommodation is situated on the top floor of the property, which the Housekeeper will largely have to themselves, with guests staying only very occasionally.
Candidate requirements
The family is looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in private household housekeeping
- Confident preparing fresh, healthy family meals
- A confident driver with a full driving licence
- Flexible regarding occasional weekend work
- Comfortable living in
- Organised, proactive and dependable
- Warm and considerate around both children and elderly family members
- Fluent in English
- Available to start ASAP
This is an excellent temporary opportunity for an experienced Housekeeper who can step into a busy family home and confidently take responsibility for its day-to-day running.

- Location: Bromley, London – approximately 10 minutes’ walk from Chislehurst station
- Salary: Equivalent to £40-50K GPA (£769 to £961 gross per week, DOE)
- Hours: Primarily Monday to Friday, with flexibility for occasional weekend cover
