A busy UHNW family is seeking a highly qualified and experienced governess to join her household, working on a rota basis (2 weeks on/off). With three boys aged 7, 4.5, and 3.5, the candidate will play a pivotal role in their educational development, working closely with the current head nanny who holds a Norland qualification. The role entails providing academic support and overseeing the boys' educational needs, including preparation for the 7 exam in January 2025. The successful candidate will have a background in teaching and/or tutoring, preferably within UHNW households.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the current nannies, in creating and implementing a comprehensive educational plan tailored to each child's needs and developmental stage.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions focusing on a range of subjects, including but not limited to English, mathematics, science, and languages.
  • Foster a supportive and enriching learning environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and academic excellence.
  • Coordinate with external tutors and educational resources to supplement the boys' learning experiences.
  • Accompany the family on international travels during school holidays, ensuring continuity in educational activities and support.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the boys' education, such as scheduling appointments, managing resources, and tracking progress.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with the family's PA and other household staff members, reporting on the boys' academic progress and any concerns or developments.


Requirements:

  • A background in teaching and/or tutoring, preferably with experience working in UHNW households.
  • Familiarity with the British education system, including preparation for the 7 exam.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and travel requirements.
  • Valid passport for international travels (the family spends a lot of time in the USA, and would need the nanny to hold a passport valid for a travel visa).

A superb role has arisen for a degree standard  Senior Private PA with 8/10 years + as a Private PA (essential) and in depth experience with large renovations and recruiting/mentoring household staff (both in the UK and Europe).

Supporting a very hands on and likeable Principal who has 4 grown children and 5 properties (to include a large central London home, ski chalet and country estate) all fully staffed.

You will lead by example and be very hands on and flexible.  Able to build relationships quickly and be at the front of the recruitment process with regards to Household Staff and keeping things running smoothly.  Staff management and pre-empting problems will come as second nature to you and you will be a collaborative team player who is able to get the best out of people.       

You will travel to the various properties about once every two months and spend a little time at the ski chalet during the season.  Flexible to travel should there be an urgent matter that needs attending.

The Principal will count on you to be a true right hand in all aspects so your reliability and commitment must be 100%.  Able to think outside of the box and contribute when needed the Principal is involved in all aspects of the design and rebuild of their large Central London property and dealing with the other properties so you will work closely with the Principal throughout the renovation.  You will organise maintenance, suppliers, trades and schedules for the properties and keep everything up to scratch.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a senior gardener to join our small team looking after the beautiful gardens of an organically certified, private estate in North Oxfordshire.

The sixteen acres of estate gardens and wider grounds that surround the sixteenth-century manor house, have been well known for many years going through different phases of ownership and have been photographed and featured in many high level publications.  A recent change of ownership has brought impetus for new direction and redesign across the estate, with new landscape designs led by a well knwon landscaping studio. It is an exciting time to join us at a formative stage of the garden’s development.

 

The gardens comprise of ornamental gardens, an orchard, a productive walled garden and glasshouse, cutting gardens, gravel garden, nuttery, wildflower meadows, pond and wetland, flowering tree and shrub walk; the overall character is naturalistic alongside formal hedging, lawns and topiary providing structure.

 

We are looking for an outstanding, passionate, experienced and skilled gardener who will thrive in a rich and diverse horticultural environment, who is a genuine plantsperson, with the plant knowledge and practice to tend to detailed border schemes. This person will also have a great work ethic and will work tidily and professionally at all times. As a small team we are also looking for someone with a positive outlook who enjoys working with others, who can take direction from the Head Gardener, but it is also essential that you are happy to also work for long periods on your own. Due to the size of the team you must have the experience, capability, and self-motivation to consistently work to a high level routinely, without supervision.

The estate is managed according to organic principles and the existing gardeners share the owners’ passion for regenerative methods of managing landscape, promoting biodiversity and exploring and developing methods to garden with sensitivity to nature and the wider landscape, whilst simultaneously ensuring that the ornamental gardens are kept to the highest standard. Previous experience in organic gardening techniques would be a plus but is not essential.

 Additionally, a cut flower business is run from the estate grounds and the new gardener will be required to assist in the maintenance of the cutting gardens as directed by the Head Gardener. A real interest and curiosity for growing cut flowers would be a plus.

 

Essential Skills

  • Excellent gardener with a minimum of three years in a similar level role in a similar context – private or historic estate. 
  • Excellent and demonstrable plant knowledge. 
  • High level border work, working with attention to detail and craft in border maintenance work. 
  • Excellent pruning skills - competency in this area with a range of perennial plants, shrubs and climbers. 
  • Demonstrable experience in the routine annual maintenance of hedges; lawns; areas of hard-landscaping; assistance with the care of the wildflower meadows. Ability to keep these to an excellent standard. 
  • Experience using power tools for garden maintenance, including hedge-trimming and strimming. 
  • Experience in productive gardening: vegetable & soft fruit production
  • You will ideally have at least a level 3 horticultural qualification in addition to the required professional experience.

 Desired Skills 

  • Experience in producing organic cut flowers a plus, including picking and conditioning flowers (training can be given in this area). 
  • Management skills - on occasion you will be required to work with freelance gardeners at busy times of the year, and in the absence of the Head Gardener you will need to be responsible for managing any freelance gardeners on site.

A busy UHNW family living near Regent's Park is looking for an experienced and passionate nanny to join them from September onwards, helping with their two boys aged 3 and 5.
Their current nanny has been with them for a while and will be leaving in October, and the family would like to do a few weeks' handover with both nannies present.
The boys are in a good routine and enrolled in school and nursery (B3 is at a nursery near the house in the afternoons, and B5 goes to a private school full-time). The nanny will be responsible for all school runs, and anything related to the children's day-to-day schedule.
General nanny duties will be required - organise fun and educational activities, supervise homework, prepare light and healthy meals for the boys, etc...
You will join a fully-staffed household and will work in partnership with a PA, Housekeepers and a chef. Teamwork is very important for the family, to ensure the smooth running of the whole household!
The family would love to find a nanny speaking French, Swedish (or both!) and fluent English. They are a multilingual household and need the nanny to speak in either French or Swedish to the boys most of the time.
Worldwide travel will be needed throughout the year (for example, they will be in Brazil in September for a few weeks). The nanny will need to travel with them on most of those trips.
