Butler in London

£45000.00 - £60000 per annum DOE Living arrangements

We are looking for a professional and dedicated Butler with a real eye for detail to assist a couple with the daily running of their London home alongside a well-established household team. The role includes the usual butler duties including some light cooking.

This is a new role within the team where your duties will include creating a calm and well-ordered home environment, maintained to the highest standards.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing the team of experienced housekeepers: helping them to organise their workload and providing oversight and guidance as needed, and helping out occasionally in cases of unforeseen staff absence.
  • Wardrobe management: caring for delicate fabrics and arranging repairs and specialist cleaning as required. You will ensure that clothes are properly stored and available for use by the principals when needed.
  • Front of house skills: welcoming guests to the house, offering refreshments and generally looking after guests staying with the family at any of their properties.
  • Organise occasional dinners and drinks parties in liaison with the PA (and the gardeners in summer), hiring catering staff as required.
  • Liaising with local property managers at the principal's other homes to make sure that everything is ready for their arrival.
  • You may be asked to accompany the family when they travel, or travel in advance to prepare for their arrival, you must be happy to travel within the UK and overseas.
  • Packing luggage for the principals and liaising with the PA on the detailed arrangements.
  • Other duties could also include some personal shopping and occasional driving.


As the household Butler, you will inspire a passion for excellence and service in the household team, and set an outstanding example. You will be confident, thoughtful and discreet, giving the family the privacy they need in their home.

The ideal candidate will be adept at anticipating the family's needs and planning ahead to ensure that arrangements run smoothly despite the demands of busy schedules.

The successful candidate will have many years of relevant experience and with proven longevity in previous employments.

Job title: Butler (full-time)

Location: London, with occasional travelling

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 negotiable (DOE living arrangements)

Accommodation: Live in or live out (within reasonable travelling distance)

Hours: Mon - Fri, 40 hours a week with flexibility

Starting: ASAP

Driving licence essential
