House Manager for large fully staffed home in London
Starting: ASAP
Location: Central London
Salary: £80,000 - £95,000 GPA, DOE

Our UHNW client is looking for an experienced House Manager who is capable on taking on a large household team. You will have an ability to oversee maintenance projects with effectively managing the finance inventory and minimise wastage and spending.  The client wants to overhaul some processes that are outdated and the House Manager will be to effectively implement these and support and guide the household team in adapting to these changes. 
You will provide leadership position for all house staff indicated, and be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the staff and clients.
As the House Manager you will have complete authority, responsibility and accountability as it encompasses the house, except where authority is expressly denied.
You must have the ability and understanding to work flexible days/hours as needed based on demand of the house.
You must have worked as a House Manager in a large, fully staffed and busy household ideally with some multiple property management experience. 

Your duties as the House Manager will include but are not limited to:
Planning

  • The ability to develop, with the aid of key staff members, strategies and programs to ensure the attainment of the house goals and objectives.
  • The ability to prepare a comprehensive annual operating plan, for all departments in the house with addendum plans for maintenance, repair, sanitation, energy conservation and uniform replacement.
  • The ability to prepare an annual capital expenditure plan.
  • The ability to prepare salary administration plan.


Organizing

  • The ability to ensure the house has an organization chart showing both structure and people that is compatible with the financial plans of the house discussed.
  • The ability to recruit staff when needed, ensuring the candidates meet the job role & specifications.
  • Work with management to develop and install a system of standards of performance, whereby everyone may objectively appraise their own performance.
  • Develop objectives for all staff pertaining to their functional responsibilities, that contribute to the achievement of the house goals.
  • Implement performance planning and review all staff, according to established performance standards and mutually agreed upon results to budgeted plans.


Administration

  • Set clear guidelines and ensure that these are adhered to throughout all house operations.
  • Schedule meetings to ensure coordination and open lines of communication.
  • Maintain employee break areas at high standard of cleanliness and attractiveness – visibly demonstrating to all staff an on-going interest in their welfare.
  • Set minimum acceptable standards of quality, operation and service as benchmark point of self-measurement.
  • Supervise all staff in carrying out their operations responsibilities and tasks, coordinating efforts and establishing priorities where necessary.
  • Approve house paperwork such as daily accounting work, month end reports and other essential forms as needed.
  • Maintain to supervise staff performance, ensuring direction is given where needed.
  • Review energy saving programs and plans on monthly basis.
  • Ensure procedures for emergency situations are written and distributed and familiar to all employees.
  • Ensure audits are conducted as requested.


Leadership

  • Lead with intellectual and emotional maturity, practicing consulting supervision and observing ethical business practices.
  • The ability to represent the interest of the house and all its personnel in fair, impartial and equitable manner.
  • The ability to respond properly in any house emergency or safety situation.


Communication  

  • Keep the principal and management informed about the condition of house and all-important factors influencing its operation.
  • Coordinate the efforts of supporting management, where calling them for such advice and assistance as deemed advisable.
  • Cooperate effectively with all sharing mutual interest, concerns advice and specialized knowledge.
  • Convey clear instructions, guidance with proper intent to achieve a unity of purpose. The ability to establish working relationships that will attain a high-level of employee morale.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the client. 
  • Maintain open working relationship with everyone.
