Working for an American family of 7 located in Chelsea, central London. The family have a busy lifestyle living and working in London during the week, occasionally spending time at their family home in Surrey during weekends and travelling internationally in school holidays. The children range from 1 – 8 years in age and the family have a Labrador puppy. The household can be described as energetic, fun, relaxed and informal.

The role of Live in Housekeeper will be responsible for the smooth running of the family’s main household in London. Overseeing all aspects of the house day to day, liaising with the family and assisting with any requests in managing the house maintenance. The family home is a large 6-bedroom house with a garden, roof terrace, security personnel and separate living quarters for staff. The Housekeeper’s role is a central position within the family household interacting with children’s Nanny’s, additional staff and the children themselves. There may also be the requirement to travel in school holidays to the house in Surrey and to support the family in the evenings and babysit the children.

The family are looking for an experienced and energetic Housekeeper who loves children and strives to achieve high standards at all times in the home. You must be flexible, positive, self-motivated and willing to work independently as well as part the wider household team, support with the children where required and demonstrate professionalism when representing the family to guests or external parties.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Maintain the house in a well organised, clean and tidy state according to the existing customs of the house

• Manage external contractors and home appliances e.g. plumbers, washing machine checks

• Regularly clean, as needed, to maintain the house in a clean state

• Spring / deep cleaning, as needed

• Cleaning and maintaining household appliances to ensure they work effectively and prolong their life

• Collecting, washing and ironing laundry; hand washing delicate items

• Arrange and collect dry-cleaning

• Change the bed linen on a weekly basis

• Vacuuming and cleaning carpets and rugs

• Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces

• Cleaning windows

• Ensuring refrigerators are clean and out-of-date items discarded

• Watering household plants

• Changing light bulbs, fuses, checking boiler pressure, bleeding radiators, checking security and alarm systems and performing minor household repairs

• Keep walkways and steps clear and tidy

• Purchase, re-order and maintain housekeeping supplies and inventory

• Maintain accurate records and receipts of household expenses

• Pet care

• Work collaboratively with the other housekeepers and nannies

• Complete daily patrol of the grounds, home and cars to ensure there are no security risks

• Assist with any preparation in advance of the family travelling

Hours: Live in Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm (with flexibility)

Salary: DOE £ 36,000 - £38,000 gross per year
