Family Chef in Marylebone - 4 days a week

Family of 3 looking for a long term chef to join them on a live out basis working Monday to Thursday with some flexibility.

Working Hours and Flexibility:

  • Monday to Thursday, with an emphasis on lunch and dinner.
  • Flexibility is essential, given the varying schedules of the family.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have a "can do" attitude and adaptability.
  • The family seek someone who can work wholeheartedly when they are in residence and take time off when they are away.
  • Must be dog friendly!

Salary and Profile:

  • Salary £45,000 for 4 days, but there is room for negotiation for the right person willing to work extended hours.
  • The family value a hardworking, charming individual who cares about health, prefers organic, local, seasonal ingredients, and enjoys culinary challenges. A preference for plant-based cooking is essential.

Job Description:

  • Prepare meals for two adults as needed for lunch and dinner.
  • Create a library of successful dishes, including starters, mains, sides, and desserts for entertaining.
  • Organise both kitchens and fridges, ensuring items are neat and organised, with expired items removed.
  • Restock items as needed and explore new options.
  • Plan meals that are delicious, healthy, and seasonally appropriate, focusing on organic and sustainable ingredients.
  • Purchase necessary kitchen utensils and appliances, consulting with the principal for more expensive items.
  • Prepare a packed lunch for one of the principals.
  • Coordinate with the weekend housekeeper to stock the fridge for the weekend and ensure she is prepared for any entertaining.
  • When entertaining, book additional staff (waiters, bartender) for groups larger than 8-10 people.
  • Manage the principal's favourite wines and reorder as needed.
  • Arrange mixologists when necessary.
  • Set a beautiful table with plants and flowers.
  • Be open to helping in other areas of the household when the family travel and there is down time, including arrange cut flowers, and oversee plant maintenance.

Additional Information:

  • The primary location of work is the family home in Marylebone, with occasional travel, usually during the summer holidays.
  • One principal requires gluten-free meals, and one daughter has a nut allergy (visits infrequently).
  • Typically cooking for two adults, occasionally including one child and a nanny.

There are other staff employed including a nanny and a team of housekeepers (placed by Leaman) who all work very closely and are a great support network.
